PILATES - Mat & Equipment

We offer a comprehensive approach to the study of Pilates. Both MAT & EQUIPMENT/APPARATUS classes are offered. We offer the highest quality equipment by STOTT. ( 4 V2max Reformers, 4 towers/Cadillac’s, barrels and chairs)

All levels of classes are offered  Monday thru Saturday, morning and evening. Please visit the schedule page for current schedule and updates. Our classes are based on the Fundamental teachings of the original exercises of Joseph Pilates .

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:                                              


EQUIPMENT:Reformer/V2Max,Cadillac /Barrels                                             

PILATES COMBO :  ½  Mat   ½  Reformer/Cadillac :  Fundamental exercises                     

JUMP BOARD  : Emphasis on  elevating  heart rate using the  Jump board and reformer                                                                                  

PILATES MAT: Classical Pilates Repertoire                                  

 POWER MAT & CORE+ MAT: Pilates and Core Exercise variations & Stretches.                                                                          

PILATES /YOGA STRETCH:  Essential  fundamental Pilates & Yoga total body integration work and stretches.                                             

FDC : Fundamental Dance Conditioning (Dancers Conditioning class) Please  enquire.

 

Fundamental Dance Conditioning (FDC)

“Conditioning for dance improves technique and performance in all dance forms by strengthening the body’s core while improving coordination, balance, alignment and flexibility. The result is more lift without tension, deeper plies, higher jumps with less effort, tighter turns, and improved extension and turn out.”  - Erik Franklin, The Franklin Method

Programs Offered:

FDC Mat:  (Beginner through Advanced ) This class uses a formal Pilates repertoire plus additional dance conditioning  exercises to increase strength specific to the dancers  body. Developing core and hip strength, precision and control, focus  and individual body awareness  enables the  dancer a better understanding of his or her body.  Props such as magic-circles, barrels, thera-bands and various body balls are used to vary exercises and intensities. (Can be done on location at host studio)

FDC Mat & Equipment:  As above , plus the use of  traditional  Pilates equipment : Reformer, Cadillac/Trapeze, Barrels and Chairs. (Classes done on site at Terpsicore –Movement Education Center)
(Please note: Equipment work is for 13 years and older & with Directors approval)

Technique Classes: Level 1-3
The applications of the principles of the conditioning classes are applied to foundational dance steps and progressions. There is an emphasis on movement preparations, bio-mechanics, proper breathing, cues and imagery. The goal is to allow the student a further understanding of how to individually improve on their dance technique and executions. Each level progresses in fundamental conditioning skills in  turns, jumps and  kicks.   
Class is structured to include a Pilates based warm up, X-floor & Center Work, finishing with  Stretching/ Imagery & Relaxation Techniques.
(Pre-requisite: FDC MAT Dance Conditioning Program)

Private /Semi-private Training
As described above in a private ,individualized setting and program. Includes a personal postural assessment, dance specific movement analysis & conditioning. Customized training programs & on-going training available.  (Student rates available)
